GIS Mapping

Geographic Information System, or GIS, is a collection of computer hardware, software, and geographic data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information.

Many companies are still working with hand-drawn field maps and written reports as their means of data management.  GIS takes all of this basic information and converts it into an interactive database that will save our clients time and money.  In our industry, it is very important to keep up with the areas you are working in and the data associated with those areas.  We can create vector drawings to map our prospect areas, mineral tracts, permit areas, and leaseholds in their exact shapes called polygons.  These polygons are linked to databases that contain all the data for the specific tract or area.  This allows for quick generation of maps, forms, and reports.

The GIS maps can be integrated with aerial or topographic maps to get a spatial view of your prospect area.  That way you can see the terrain you are working with.

Our GIS Mapping department includes GIS Mapping specialists and a former Texas Registered Professional Land Surveyor.  We enter the field notes (metes and bounds) are entered into AutoCAD to plot the exact shape and size of the tracts.  Then the shapes are drawn into polygons in the GIS program.

We use the latest software for our GIS applications.  We can export our data to our clients in almost any format used in the GIS industry today (ESRI shapefiles, etc...) as well as common image formats like TIFF and JPG.  We can also print 42", full-color hard copy maps.
